Purattasi Day 2- Uttissttho-U]ttissttha Govinda

Uttissttho[ah-U]ttissttha Govinda Uttissttha Garudda-Dhvaja |
Uttissttha Kamalaa-Kaanta Trai-Lokyam Manggalam Kuru ||2|| (Sri Venkatesa Suprabhatham)
The one, who has (Lord) Garuda in your flag! Govinda! Wake up quickly and bestow the auspiciousness/bliss/your presence on three lokas.
The very name Govinda helps to recollect the very many incidents, where Lord has extended his help, upon invocation
1. Offering help to Mother Draupathi
2. Resuscitating life in Parikshit Maharaj
3. Protecting the ace-archer Arjuna all along
4. Many more…
The very mention of the name “Govinda” brings our attention to the pasurams (poem) of Mother Andal, Thiruppavai

The word Uttistha reminds of the famous verse from Katopanishad — 1.3.14
uttiṣṭhata jāgrata prāpya varānnibodhata |
kṣurasya dhārā niśitā duratyayā durgaṁ pathastatkavayo vadanti ||
Arise, awake, and learn by approaching the excellent ones. The wise ones describe that path to be as impassable as a razor’s ege, which, when sharpened, is difficult to tread on.
Upon hearing this sloka, if Sw.Vivekananda comes to your mind, kindly pat yourself on the back. Essentially, it was an inspirational message to Hindus, Utthistho Bharatha, from the deep slumber.

Now, let us move to a pasuram related to Thirumalai
(Mother Andal, Naachiyaar Thirumozhi)
Hearken clouds looking like a beautiful blue canopy covering the entire region, has my lord Srinivasa residing in Thiruvenkadam noted for its cool waters, accompanied you in your sojourn hither? (There in no reply) Tears flow in profusion from her eyes and drench her breasts .(she asks) Does it redound to the glory of my Lord to torment my feminity?
