Mother Andal in her Thiruppavai sings the glory of Lord Narayana who had taken the avatara of Vamana/Thrivikrama.
Swami Vivekananda once mentioned that “Truth cannot bend before Society, it is the other way around, The society should genuflect in front of the Truth”.
In this tale of Mahabali Chakravarthi, multiple facets are revealed
- Despite his Guru Sukracharya’s advice, The king stood by Truth
- Even the Lord follows societal norms, while visiting the Yagnashala
- The king had the humility to offer his ego, when the Truth about Lord’s presence dawned upon him. True to our dharma, he choose the permanent abode instead of the transient life
People of Kerala should be proud that two avatars of Lord Vishnu are associated with their pradesam — Vamana and Parasurama. There is a tendency to disassociate the Hindu aspects and present Onam as a social gathering. It was not imagined like that.
