This year Wimbledon has been cancelled. Registering my memories about this great tournament

3 Indians made Mark in this tournament

1. Tennis Krishnan played 2 SFs in the closed era in early 60s

2. Vijay Amritaraj played an awesome QF match againt Jimbo (Jimmy connors) in 79/80. In fact, those days there were no TV at hour house and no commentary. At 7.15 pm AIR news, his supremacy in the match was announced. We were all rejoicing. By 8.30 pm, he lost the match. It was a nail biting finish

3. Though Ramesh Krishnan would play better in smaller tournaments like Seiko open, Auckland open, he was never an also-ran in grass courts. he would consistently do well against quality players. In one particular year, one of the top players (i think John McEnroe) lost his cool because of Ramesh’ slow service

4. Though Leander did well in the Juniors, not able to stamp authority as a singles player. Indian express combo did well in couple of visits

5. Some national level players like Nandan bal, Zeeshan Ali played their part too.
