Wimbledon Memories — 4

Andre Agassi
Pete Sampras
Roger Federer

1. Pete Sampras and Roger Federer added dignity to this tournament by consistently winning. They killed all the participants on the field. It was an extraordinary domination after William Renshaw in 1880s.

2. In 1992, after refusing to wear all-whites in the previous years, Agassi finally gave-in and played wimbledon. Remember this year was dominated by Goran Ivansevic. Despite Goran scoring 100+ aces in the entire tournament (he had record of 740+ in that whole year), his not-so good ground strokers and Agassi’s killer-return ensured that cup went to AA.

3. In between the also-ran Michael Stitch won his cup in 1991.

After that with the monotonous wins of Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, over dosage of sports/tennis etc prevented me from watching anything meaninful.

Boring years or I grew up!
